CONCORD — The Granite Eagle this week announced the launch of YDCTruth.com, a website dedicated to telling the other side of the story surrounding lawsuits tied to the Youth Development Center (YDC).
The initiative comes as the state faces hundreds of millions of dollars in claims from decades-old allegations of abuse at the Manchester facility. While the lawsuits have drawn heavy media attention, critics say much of the coverage has lacked balance. The Granite Eagle says the new site will provide information and context not found in mainstream reporting.
“Much of the coverage has been one-sided,” said Granite Eagle Editor-in-Chief Chris Thompson in unveiling the project. “YDCTruth.com is about making sure Granite Staters have access to facts, documents, and perspectives that have been overlooked.”
The launch coincides with a major billboard campaign reaching more than 60,000 cars per day across New Hampshire. The effort is designed to direct readers to the website and encourage discussion about how the cases are being handled, both in court and in Concord.
The Granite Eagle has previously published reports examining the lawsuits, raising questions about how claims are vetted, how settlement negotiations are structured, and the potential fiscal impact on taxpayers. Past coverage has also scrutinized nationwide legal strategies, procurement gaps within the Department of Corrections, and the role of policymakers in shaping responses to the litigation.
YDCTruth.com will compile those reports, make court documents accessible, and provide ongoing updates as the cases move forward.
The Youth Development Center, now known as the Sununu Youth Services Center, remains at the center of one of the most consequential legal and financial challenges facing New Hampshire.

Imagine having the time to staple nonsense to a stick and then standing around like you or your signs even stand for anything honorable?
This is a hot take! Judge may have a conflict with Ayotte in YDC settlement fund case. #YDCTruth

One of the comments here really caught my eye:
“Who is going to ask Kelly Ayotte about this? She was in the AG's office when all this was going on. Who is going to ask John Stephens who was head of DHHS when this was going on and now sits on the Executive Council?”
Very true. The rampant abuse couldn’t occur in a vacuum. The law gives the AG primary responsibility to prevent “institutional abuse” at YDC:
“169-C:37 Institutional Abuse and Neglect. – The department of justice shall be empowered to receive and investigate reports of institutional abuse or neglect at the youth development center, and any facility that provides child inpatient psychiatric treatment within the state mental…
Woodlock was just convicted of accomplice to rape, two counts. Looking at 20-40 years. YDCTruth coming for all child abusers at YDC!
This sounds victim blaming & on a very dangerous level. It disgusting that you cant see whats really happening here. History is replete with people in power having sex with children, abusing children, hurting and causing truama to children with malicious intent! I dont usually comment on things like this ,but, I felt I had to once I seen a sigh (ydctruth.com) I am in awe and woefully belive that you are probabley in on this or you yourself have had thoughts of it. Maybe some are lying and thats unfair but" where's this smoke thiers a fire "🔥 and I can see why criminals are so distrutful of authority! I am sure that most these kids that were a…
