Teacher Ed Tinney Placed On Leave Over Repulsive Comments

PLAISTOW, N.H. — A Timberlane Regional High School teacher has been placed on paid leave after making a social media post stating he was “glad” about the death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. The Granite Eagle first reported the repulsive post on Thursday, September 11th.

Ed Tinney, an English teacher at Timberlane, drew criticism after a Facebook post circulated in which he said the United States has never been a “civil society” and concluded with, “And, yeah, I’m glad he’s dead.”

In a statement released Friday, Timberlane School Administrative Unit 106 said the employee “has been removed with pay in accordance with New Hampshire law” while the district investigates.

“The Timberlane Regional School District has been made aware of a social media post allegedly made by a member of our high school staff regarding the recent shooting and death of a public figure. We are investigating the circumstances regarding that post,” Superintendent Justin Krieger and School Board Chair Katie Knutsen wrote.

They added that the district “does not support political violence in any form” and emphasized its commitment to maintaining a safe and respectful learning environment.

Tinney’s post sparked outrage from parents and community members, with critics arguing his comments were unacceptable for someone in a teaching position. Supporters of Kirk have said the incident underscores concerns that political violence disproportionately targets conservatives.

Based on all of the disturbing comments people have made since Charlie Kirk’s assassination, there will be many more people fired from their jobs for their public comments about an innocent man, father and great American being murdered.

The school ought to, as due diligence, interview current and former students of Mr.Tunney and ask them if they knew Tinney’s political ideologies. No child should know that much about a teacher and if they do, Fire the teacher because they have failed their students. Is it any wonder students can’t read, write, or do math? Teachers are more driven by their egos and don’t help students learn how to learn.
