Response to YDC Lawsuits Column Was Eye Opening

On August 4th, 2025 the Granite Eagle published a comprehensive story based on research we conducted about the thousands of former YDC residents claiming to have been abused while in state custody. This story exposed the facts of the YDC abuse allegations and highlighted the accusations made by thousands of former residents that allegedly occurred over 20 years ago.
On August 8th, 2025, I published an opinion piece titled “YDC Lawsuits: The most disturbing case of fraud ever seen in NH”. This column was by far the most read column in the history of the Granite Eagle. It spawned countless discussions both online and amongst the community. One thing is for certain. I am not the only one who finds the majority of these egregious claims to be questionable.
Over the last few weeks, the response I have received from my YDC opinion column has been overwhelming. I heard from countless former YDC staff members who worked with those being accused. I heard from family members of the former staff members being accused. I heard from friends of those being accused. I even had neighbors of those being accused reach out to me.
There was a consistent message that I heard from almost everyone I spoke to. The former staff members being accused are innocent and the former YDC residents making these accusations are doing it for one reason and one reason only. Money.
There was another interesting event that occurred after my column was published. Attorney David Vicinanzo, who claimed to be “one of the lead lawyers for the victims in the YDC scandal” decided to post his personal opinions in the comments section below my column. You can read him blathering here.
Attorney Vicinanzo should be ashamed of himself. He disparaged the former staff members being accused, called them child molesters and strongly believes every accusation made by former YDC residents is true. He claims to have access to 5 million discovery documents and has read over 50,000 pages of documents from the state police investigation. He is not only delusional, he is a disgrace to the lawyer profession.
What attorney posts his personal opinions and argues with people in an online forum about an open case when he is representing the “victims” and getting paid for that? Is that ethical or allowed? We’ll soon find out.
It should be known that I proposed to Attorney Vicinanzo that he and I get together for a sit down and recorded discussion about the YDC allegations. He has yet to respond to or accept my offer. I also reached out to WMUR and asked them to host the discussion. It should come as no surprise that they did not respond to my request. With their ongoing, biased reporting on the YDC allegations, they don’t have the journalistic integrity to consider another viewpoint.
What I also found interesting following my column being published was that I did not hear from one single former YDC resident pushing back on my questions and challenging my disbelief with all of the allegations. A coincidence? I think not.
The more I learn about the YDC lawsuits and the more I dig, the more I realize how much of a complete scam this is. Was there abuse at YDC? There absolutely was. Were thousands of children sexually and physically abused at YDC? There is absolutely no possible way that is true.
As mentioned in previous columns, the Granite Eagle will relentlessly investigate and report on the YDC allegations that have destroyed the lives of innocent people and cost NH taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars. Stay tuned.
